Privacy Policy
Last updated 17 October 2026
Arcanum Reader does not collect, store or transmit any personal data to its developer. There is no account with us, no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting.
Where your data goes
The app connects only to servers you configure yourself:
- Your library server (Grimmory or Booklore). Your reading positions, highlights, notes and read status are stored there, under your own account, using that server's API.
- A Bindery server, if you connect one, to search for and request books.
- The Anthropic API, only if you enter your own API key. When you use Surprise Me with that key, the app sends a short list of candidate book titles and a few lines summarising your reading taste, and nothing else. Requests are billed to your own Anthropic account and are subject to Anthropic's privacy policy.
What stays on your device
- Your sign-in tokens and API keys are stored in the iOS keychain.
- A cache of your library catalog, downloaded books, reader settings and the "Surprise Me" skip list are stored in the app's private storage so the app works offline.
- Deleting the app deletes all of it.
What we never do
- We never see your server address, credentials, catalog or books.
- We do not use third-party analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs.
- We do not sell or share data, because we do not have any.
Future paid services
If Arcanum Reader later offers an optional hosted service, it will be described here before it launches. Our rule for it: anything personal is opt-in and encrypted on your device before it is sent, and the service will never hold your library server address, credentials or catalog in a readable form.
Children
Arcanum Reader is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
